From none other than Fox News. The story is that Regis hated his lines when he guested on Seinfeld many years ago. It was the episode where Kramer goes on a press tour to promote his coffee table book about coffee tables and spits coffee on Kathy Lee. It’s funny.
It seems like Regis was telling a funny story and none other than Fox News spun it into a “grudge,” but even so, if you watch the clip, you can see that Kramer is meant to be the funny one and Regis and Kathy Lee are there to be the straight men. In the article, Regis complains that his line “bonkos” is not funny and he looks stupid next to Michael Richards. But “bonkos” is not the joke of the scene; it’s what the writers considered a heightened kind of Regisism. If Regis shouting crazy things were the funny thing, it would take away from Kramer being nuts.
I did always think he seemed a little uncomfortable saying “bonkos.”
